SALT LAKE CITY-As the Utah Jazz hosts the Salt Lake City Summer League July 1-3, the NBA franchise is searching for local artists to perform a live-painting installation at Vivint Smart Arena.
This gives artists the opportunity to share their love for the Salt Lake community with local and visiting NBA fans visiting for the event.
This opportunity is open to all professional artists, artist teams, illustrators and designers who reside in the Beehive State.
Aspiring artists have until June 18 to submit their proposals. Six different artists/artist teams will be selected. Those who receive this opportunity will be notified by June 24.
All artists/artist teams whom the Jazz selects will be required to sign an agreement with the team. This confirms the Jazz owns all rights, titles and interests (including intellectual property rights) for artwork created for this event.
The following criteria will be selected for artists: innovative, playful and original artwork, the enhancement of community identity/sense of place and the stimulation of creativity/excellence in urban design and public art.
Each selected artist will activate a 4 x 4 cube ( a total of four 4 x 4-foot panels) that will be located inside the arena on the concourse or outside the arena on the plaza.
The goal is to showcase Salt Lake City to those who are visiting for the summer league competition.
Each artist will be paid $450, which is inclusive of the artists’ fees and related expenses for the design and creation of the final artwork at the time of the event.
