Daily avalanche forecasts have begun as Utah has already seen several avalanches, despite thin early-season snowpack. The Utah Avalanche Center reports natural, human-triggered, and animal-triggered avalanches in the past 36 hours, including one on High Rustler. Strong ridgetop winds are depositing snow on weak layers, creating dangerous conditions. Avalanches have occurred mostly above 85-hundred feet, with north-facing or shady slopes posing the highest risk. The UAC warns backcountry users to exercise caution when venturing into areas with the best early-season snow coverage, which also carry the greatest hazard.
