Utah Gov. Gary Herbert Issues Executive Order For 19 Utah Counties

SALT LAKE CITY-Utah  Utah Gov. Gary Herbert had a busy Friday, extending two executive orders pertaining to COVID-19.

First, Herbert extended his mandate for requirements concerning face coverings in state facilities in the Beehive State.

Under this executive order, a state facility entails any portion of a building or structure, including any part thereof, that is owned, leased, occupied or controlled by the state or a state governmental entity.

This does not include, per the order, a state prison or state community correctional center, a detention or secure facility operated by the division of juvenile justice services or a building or structure that is exclusively owned, leased, occupied or controlled by:

-the legislative branch of the state

-the judicial branch of the state

-the Attorney General’s office

-the State Auditor’s office

-the State Treasurer’s office or an independent entity as defined in Utah Code 63E-1-102

State governmental entities are any department, board, commission, institution, agency or institution of higher education of the state.

Additionally, Herbert extended the yellow “low risk” phase for 19 counties statewide through 11:59 pm on July 24 for his second act of the day.

This includes Wasatch County.
