Utah Enforces Surveillance on Ballot Boxes Amid Arson Concerns

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Following ballot drop box fires in Oregon, and Washington State, Utah officials are trying to assure voters of enhanced ballot box security. Under a 2022 law, every unmanned drop box in Utah is monitored by 24/7 video surveillance to deter tampering and strengthen election integrity. Each box is also labeled to remind voters of ongoing surveillance.
