Utah Cities Looking To Extend Emergency Proclamations Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

SALT LAKE COUNTY-At least three Utah cities, all of which are in Salt Lake County, are seeking to extend the lock-down declarations made last month by Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson.

The public may weigh in on these decisions from the comfort of their own homes.

These cities, Salt Lake City, West Valley City and Sandy, each have independent proclamations adding weight to Utah Governor Gary Herbert’s directive to stay home.

Salt Lake City mayor Erin Mendenhall explained on March 10 that this proclamation, which she used that day for her city, gives a proclamation the force of law.

Each city council will meet online at varying times Tuesday to discuss this further.
