UT DEI Will Be Voted On In State Legislature

(Salt Lake City, UT) — After two hours of hearings Utah’s House Education Committee voted to push a bill that would end diversity, equity, and inclusion to the full House. The bill was voted on along party lines with Republicans voting in favor. It would “reframe” DEI offices at the state’s eight public colleges and universities as well as K-12 schools. Those favoring the bill say cultural centers and scholarships would not be affected, while opponents believe it would. Utah is one of many states looking at changing, or already have changed, how DEI operates in schools.
