University of Utah To Shut Down On-Campus Learning For Two Weeks

SALT LAKE CITY-The University of Utah will stop on-campus learning for two weeks as of September 27 to slow the spread of covid-19 and prepare for the vice presidential debate.

Through October 11, only virtual learning will occur as the university announces plans to enact a “circuit breaker” to deal with covid-19.

This also allows sufficient time to prepare for the debate featuring Republican incumbent vice president Mike Pence and Democratic challenger, Sen. Kamala Harris October 7.

The university has also warned of significant traffic disruptions around campus as a result of the nationally-televised debate.

Those areas particularly disrupted include the roadways/walkways in areas around Rice-Eccles Stadium, the Presidents Circle, University Street and 100 South per an email.
