University of Utah Terminates Recognition Of Fraternity

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The University of Utah is terminating the recognition of a fraternity chapter after a pattern of hazing violations. According to school leadership, the Sigma Nu fraternity participated in a number of hazing rituals, which included new members being forced to drink alcohol or use illegal substances as part of the initiation process. Sigma Nu will not be able to reapply for recognition until Summer 2031.
