SALT LAKE CITY-Wednesday, University of Utah president Ruth V. Watkins announced Lori K. McDonald is the new vice president for university affairs at the Salt Lake City-based institution.
McDonald, who currently serves as the university’s associate vice president and dean of students, will assume her new position July 1.
She will succeed Barb Snyder, who is retiring from her position after 20 years of service in June.
McDonald was selected after the university conducted a comprehensive national search.
McDonald has been at the UofU since 1997 and has served within various roles in student affairs.
She was appointed as associate vice president and dean of students in 2013.
McDonald earned her doctorate from the University of Utah’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy.
She has a Master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the UofU.
