Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Handling Lightning-Caused Fire Successfully

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Per the official Twitter of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, the Willow Creek Fire, a blaze caused by lightning, is 96 percent completed.

This blaze is currently burning in the Willow Creek drainage, roughly 22 miles away from Heber City.

Fire personnel are on the scene Friday to monitor the fire’s activity. Smoke may be visible from U.S. Highway 40, Strawberry River Road and Co-Op Creek Road.

As of 11:29 am MDT Friday morning, area closure has been terminated although the Bjorkman Hollow Road will remain closed.

The fire is being managed under a confined/contained strategy to regenerate aspen. This, in turn, will benefit wildlife in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, reduce hazardous fuels and improve the forest’s health.

Nevertheless, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest also reminds Heber Valley residents that there is a zero tolerance policy on all fireworks until Monday July 2.
