Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest Gives Update On U.S. Highway 40

UINTA-WASATCH-CACHE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah-Per a Wednesday report from the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, construction is ongoing on U.S. Highway 40 in the Strawberry Valley from Daniels Summit to Milepost 46.

This is on Heber-Kamas District land.

For the safety of drivers and workers, the speed limit in these areas has been reduced to 55 miles per hour.

Motorists are advised to slow down in work zone areas, avoid drowsy or impaired driving, put away distracting devices and always buckle up.

They remind drivers that zero fatalities is everyone’s responsibility.

Crews are presently removing asphalt and preparing the roadway for new paving operations between mileposts 35-37 and 40-46.

Paving operations will occur in prepared areas moving westward. Drivers should be prepared for changing lane configurations, intermittent flagging and pilot car operations delays.

Delays could last up to 15 minutes and will require reduced speeds from the designated 55 mph for this project.

Crews are also laboring to install wildlife fencing throughout the corridor.

Heavy and wide loads exceeding 12 feet are being excluded from this stretch of U.S. 40 through project completion.

It is anticipated this will occur in fall 2020.
