UHP Stepping Up Patrols For Impaired Drivers Through New Year’s Day

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Highway Patrol troopers all across the state are going to be keeping an eye out for impaired drivers from now through New Year’s Day. A Highway Patrol spokesperson said troopers are encouraging people to make plans for getting home before they get to where they’re going to celebrate. They said people who plan to drink need to have a way to get home that doesn’t include them being behind the wheel. Thirty people were arrested for driving under the influence on Utah highways over the Christmas weekend, and troopers responded to about 130 crashes across the state.
