WASATCH COUNTY, Utah-
5:51 pm
A 17-year-old boy was killed during this incident. The incident commenced one mile south of Charleston when a northbound Honda Civic drifted off the right side of a narrow section of the highway, per a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The boy was the only occupant in the vehicle and over-corrected back to the left.
This resulted in the Civic crossing into oncoming traffic, sideswiping a Subaru Crosstrek, per the release.
Furthermore, the Civic then spun, being hit by a Toyota Sienna minivan. The 17-year-old died at the scene and was not identified.
Occupants of the Sienna suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
Initially, Utah Highway Patrol officials said the deceased person was in the Sienna, but later clarified it was the driver of the Civic.
In contrast to initial reports, UHP officials later confirmed occupants of the Subaru were not injured. Initial reports stated they were.
