Tuesday covid-19 information in Utah updated

SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the Utah Department of Health updated covid-19 statistics for the Beehive State Tuesday.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 47,157 recorded cases of covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 263 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 21 in the same span.

There are 606,516 Utahns who have been tested for covid-19 since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 4,721 Utahns in the past 24 hours.

The overall positive test percentage dropped to 7.77 percent Tuesday. This represents the first time in the past 10 days the percentage has dropped below 7.78 percent.

The 24-hour positive test percentage dropped to 5.57 percent Tuesday. Monday, this was at 7.40 percent.

There have been 38,555 recoveries from covid-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 423 in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of eight in the same span.

The current recovery percentage in Utah is 81.75 percent. This is up from Monday’s 81.31 percent.

Significantly, the gap between all-time cases and recovered cases continues to shrink in Utah. Sunday, this differential was at 8,951 more all-time cases than recoveries. Tuesday, this figure checked in at 8,602. This represents a net decrease of 160 in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 8,233 active cases in Utah. This is a decrease of 165 in the past 24 hours. The current active case percentage in Utah is 17.45 percent.

The differential between recovered cases and active cases is 30,322. This is an increase of 598 in the past 24 hours.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 2,804 hospitalizations for covid-19. This is an increase of 22 in the past 24 hours.

There are 134 current hospitalizations in Utah. This represents a decrease of -3 in the past 24 hours, dropping the hospitalization percentage in Utah to 4.77 percent for covid-19. Monday, this figure was at 4.99 percent.

The ICU cases currently hospitalized for covid-19 dropped to 61 in the past 24 hours. This dropped the ICU current hospitalization percentage to 45.5 percent. Monday, this was at 46.04 percent.

The deaths attributed to covid-19 in Utah increased by five Tuesday, bringing the net total to 369 deaths. The current death percentage in the Beehive State is 0.782 percent. Monday, this was at 0.776 percent.

Wasatch County saw no new cases (600), hospitalizations (24) or deaths (4) attributed to covid-19 in the past 24 hours. This is significant as the Wasatch School District commenced the fall semester for the 2020-21 school year Monday.

The most recent death attributed to covid-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
