WASHINGTON-Thursday, United States president Donald Trump addressed the media with his coronavirus task force during the daily press briefing from the White House.
Trump reiterated many of his Wednesday comments and expressed his disdain for the mainstream media while succinctly concluding by saying “we will vanquish this virus.”
The most significant words from the briefing came from White House coronavirus task force response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx.
Although the United States has become the world leader in coronavirus cases Thursday, Birx mentioned that much of this has to do with the U.S. being five times the size of Italy.
Significantly, she also said that 38 percent of the country (19 of 50 states) have less than 200 cases. The statistics are skewed tremendously the other way in the New York/New Jersey area as these states have combined for 55 percent of the cases in the nation, she remarked.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases then spoke of the randomized controlled trial that he hopes can be employed for COVID-19.
If this can be used, Fauci said, you can determine how effective or ineffective it is. If it is effective, Fauci continued, it can then be safely administered to those who need it.
