WASHINGTON-Wednesday, United States president Donald Trump addressed the media during the daily White House briefing.
In light of Passover and Easter each occurring this week, Trump exhorted everyone to remember God, saying this is a “holy week” and therefore a good time to do such.
Trump also confirmed that United Kingdom prime minister Boris Johnson is doing better after having fallen ill because of COVID-19.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo then addressed the media, saying “we want to get the global economy back on its feet.”
When asked when America can feasibly get things normalized, Pompeo said things will get back to normal when those who are abroad can get back home safely on their own.
Obviously, because of logistical situations, this is not necessarily possible at this time.
Trump then returned to the podium, calling cashiers and clerks “incredible” and “true American heroes.”
Trump next expressed his confidence that America is headed the right direction concerning COVID-19.
He asserted that models are unreliable, as has been proven in many cases the past few weeks, but he stated his belief that the end is approaching as he declared “I hope it ends soon and I think it will.”
When taking questions from the media, Trump said he first learned of COVID-19’s severity when shutting China down for air travel in landing on American soil January 31.
Trump was then asked when American can feasibly be reopened. He declared that a downward curve has to occur first before realistic consideration can be given to reopening the country.
Trump did express confidence again, however, when he cited words from Louisiana governor John Bel Edwards, stating that the Pelican State does not need as many beds as was previously thought.
Trump also said that all voters should have ID when fielding other questions from the press.
Various remarks were then made by National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci and White House Coronavirus Task Force coronavirus response coordinator Deborah Birx with Fauci saying that two week trends need to be taken into consideration.
This echoed the sentiments shared by Utah state epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn during Governor Gary Herbert’s coronavirus briefing Wednesday.
Birx simply exhorted American to follow the guidelines so the spread of COVID-19 can be stopped.
Vice President Mike Pence said the “low and steady numbers in California and Washington” are a truly positive sign.
Pence also confirmed the treasury will unveil a Q&A concerning COVID-19 if anyone should have any questions.
Pence continued, saying Project Airbridge was to have four flights arrive today, providing greatly-needed supplies to those in distress.
Pence concluded his statements by saying “we are inspired by the response of the American people.”
Virologist Dr. Robert R. Redfield, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, gave guidelines for how workers can turn to work.
These include workers being asymptomatic, having their temperature taken when they arrive at work and wearing masks, especially in high access areas.
Otherwise, they must adhere to social distancing guidelines as they have been previously explained.
The White House coronavirus task force will again address the media Thursday.
