Thacker reported the train derailed in a spot where the tracks switch. After an investigation occurred, it appeared the tracks did not connect completely, perhaps causing the derailment. No injuries were reported.

Detective Tammy Thacker of the Heber City Police Department confirmed the Heber Valley Railroad had been shut down briefly to keep all the passengers safe. However, as time progressed, things calmed down.
HEBER CITY, Utah-Saturday morning, per a report from KUTV 2 News of Salt Lake City, a train derailment occurred at 650 S. 800 West near Heber Valley Elementary School.
Heber City Police advise people to avoid the area until further notice.
