Tooele County Issues Public Health Order

TOOELE, Utah-Tuesday, the Tooele County Public Health Department issued a new order. This enacts further protections designed to quell the spread of COVID-19.

Health Department Executive Director Jeff Coombs listed 10 specific orders which will take effect at 11:59 pm Tuesday evening.

Tooele County is prohibiting the gathering of 10 or more people. It has mirrored the public health orders of Wasatch, Salt Lake and Summit Counties, as well as Salt Lake City, concerning food service (the drive-thru is always permissible until further notice).

Children’s playgrounds and outdoor sports courts/fields will remain open for individuals residing in the same households.

Residents are asked to enjoy outdoor recreation by adhering to social distance rules.

Individuals are to refrain from visiting nursing care facilities, assisted living facilities and retirement homes except to provide critical assistance.

Individuals are to avoid discretionary travel, shopping trips (except for essential items) and social visits.

Individuals over the age of 60 and those who are immuno-compromised are to avoid contact with others.

Businesses are to actively enforce social distance practices and exclude any ill employees from working.

Essential businesses are to do their best to comply with social distancing recommendations.

Grocery stores are not subject to the gathering of 10 persons or less rule.

Coombs said the purpose of these regulations is to save lives and not to overwhelm the health system.
