SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday, the COVID-19 statistics for Utah were updated by the Utah Department of Health.
Since statistics have been kept, there have been 29,484 cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State.
This is an increase of 629 in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of three in the same span.
For the second consecutive day, there has been a decrease in the net positive cases recorded daily in the Beehive State. This is a -238 decrease since Friday.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert’s ambition is that Utah can get below 500 new recorded cases daily by August 1 during remarks he made at a briefing at the Utah State Capitol building July 9.
There have now been 17,303 recoveries from COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 406 in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of 230 in the same span.
Nevertheless, the recovery percentage rose again. Sunday, it checked in at 58.68 percent. Saturday, this total was at 58.5 percent.
There are presently 11,967 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 220 in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 240 in the same span.
The active cases percentage dropped to 40.58 percent Sunday. Saturday, it was at 40.7 percent.
There have been 413,058 recorded tests of COVID-19 since statistics began being kept in the Beehive State for the virus. This is an increase of 7,706 in the past 24 hours.
The overall positive test percentage slightly increased to 7.13 percent Sunday. As of Friday, this was at 7.12 percent and Saturday it checked in at 7.11 percent.
The 24-hour positive test percentage rose to 8.165 percent Sunday. Saturday, this was at 6.73 percent.
There have been 1,824 hospitalizations for COVID-19 recorded in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 27 in the past 24 hours.
There are 209 current hospitalizations for COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This caused the current hospitalization percentage to increase to 11.45 percent with the six new current hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.
Saturday, this was at 11.29 percent.
The current COVID-19 hospitalizations in ICU stayed at 84 Sunday. This caused the ICU percentage of COVID-19 current hospitalizations to drop to 40.19 percent. Saturday, this was at 41.37 percent.
There were three new deaths recorded attributed to COVID-19 Sunday. This raises the death total to 215. The current death rate percentage in Utah dropped to 0.00729 percent Sunday. Saturday, this was at 0.007347 percent.
Wasatch County saw four new recorded cases of COVID-19 Sunday. This increases the net case total to 456 since statistics began being kept. The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (4) remain unchanged in the past 24 hours.
The most recent death attributed to COVID-19 in Wasatch County occurred July 6.
