SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday, updated COVID-19 statistics were released for Utah by the state department of health.
Since statistics for COVID-19 in the Beehive State began being kept, there have been 24,952 recorded cases. This is an increase of 410 in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of 246 in the same span.
There have been 14,147 recovered cases from COVID-19 in Utah as of Sunday’s report. This is an increase of 340 recoveries in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of 55 in the same span.
This healthy overall increase rose the Beehive State’s COVID-19 recovery percentage to 56.69 percent from Saturday’s 56.25 percent.
There are presently 10,621 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 67 active cases in the past 24 hours and a tremendous net decrease of 210 active cases in the same span.
Currently, 42.56 percent of all recorded COVID-19 cases in Utah are active cases.
In a number that has steadily risen the past four days, there are now 3,526 more recoveries in Utah from COVID-19 than active cases. This is an increase of 273 more recoveries than active cases in the past 24 hours.
Since statistics for COVID-19 began being kept in Utah, there have been 371,308 total tests for the virus. This is an increase of 4,591 tests in the past 24 hours. This caused the overall positive test percentage to slightly rise to 6.72 percent from Saturday’s 6.69 percent. The 24-hour positive test percentage rose to 8.93 percent Sunday. Saturday, the 24-hour positive test percentage was at 6.50 percent.
Since statistics for COVID-19 have been kept in the Beehive State, there have been 1,582 net hospitalizations. This is an increase of 17 in the past 24 hours. However, current hospitalizations are -10 in the same span, dropping to 183 current hospitalizations.
For the first time in a month, the current hospitalization percentage in Utah dropped below 12 percent. Currently, 11.56 percent of all COVID-19 hospitalizations in state history are currently hospitalized.
The current hospitalizations for COVID-19 in ICU also dropped by four in the past 24 hours. Because of the -10 current hospitalizations in the same span, the 84 currently hospitalized for COVID-19 in ICU caused the ICU percentage for current COVID-19 hospitalizations to increase to 45.9 percent. Saturday, this figure was at 45.5 percent.
There were three new deaths attributed to COVID-19 in the Beehive State Sunday. This increased the death total to 184 since records began being kept. This still represents a net decrease as the lowest-death rate in the nation from COVID-19 dropped even lower Sunday, to 0.007374 percent.
Wasatch County saw a net increase of three COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours per Sunday’s totals. There have now been 422 recorded cases of COVID-19 in Wasatch County. The hospitalizations (20) and deaths (3) attributed to COVID-19 in Wasatch County remain unchanged from Saturday’s report.
The most recent death attributed to COVID-19 in Wasatch County occurred June 19.
