SALT LAKE CITY-Sunday, updated COVID-19 stats were released for the state of Utah by the Utah Department of Health.
There have been 17,462 recorded cases of COVID-19 in Utah since statistics began being kept. This is an increase of 349 cases from the previous day but a net decrease of 249 cases in that same span.
Of those, 9,659 cases have recovered from the virus. This is an increase of 269 from Saturday’s totals but a net decrease of 8 recoveries in the past 24 hours. This caused the recovery percentage to increase to 55.31 percent.
There are presently 7,646 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 123 active cases of COVID-19 in Utah in the past 24 hours. However, it also represents a net decrease of 243 active cases in the same span.
The current active case percentage in Utah dropped to 43.7 percent.
There have been 296,359 total tests administered in Utah for COVID-19 as of Sunday’s report. This is an increase of 3,482 tests in the past 24 hours. This caused the overall positive test percentage to increase to 5.89 percent.
However, for the fourth consecutive day, the 24-hour positive test percentage dropped. Sunday’s 24-hour positive test percentage checks in at 11.3 percent. Saturday’s 24-hour positive test total had been at 12.04 percent.
There have been 1,184 hospitalizations in Utah since statistics began being kept for the virus. There are presently 169 current hospitalizations, which represents a net increase of 17 current hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.
The current hospitalization percentage rose to 14.27 percent based on Sunday’s totals. This includes a new hospitalization in Wasatch County, which has now had 19 hospitalizations because of COVID-19 in its history.
There were three new deaths in Utah in the past 24 hours from COVID-19. These were two men between the ages of 64 and 85 and a woman between the ages of 45 and 64. This increased Utah’s death total to 158 deaths having been attributed to COVID-19.
This caused Utah’s nation-leading death percentage to drop even further, to 0.00904 percent.
Wasatch County did not experience any new cases from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours and the death total remains at 3. The most recent death occurred June 19, this past Friday.
