Statue Of Angel Moroni Is Placed Back Atop Temple

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A treasured piece of temple architecture that is symbolic of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is aloft once again. The famous statue of the Angel Moroni was heralded into place at the church’s Salt Lake City Temple yesterday. Presiding Bishop Gérald Caussé blew an airhorn to signal it was time for the statue supported by a crane to be set into place. The damaged statue was taken down in May 2020 to accommodate renovations at the temple. The trumpet had come off of the statue in one of Utah’s largest modern earthquakes in March that same year. A descendant of Brigham Young spoke yesterday at the statue’s reinstallation. Elder Wilson says his ancestor selected the location for the temple first in Salt Lake City.
