The Utah Highway Patrol determined to alternate traffic through the closure group while crews worked on removing the tractor portion of the semi. The UHP then decleared they would reinstate the hard closure as soon as crews began working again.

Michele Rowe of KSL News Radio of Salt Lake City reports the closure will last for at least six more hours. Drivers in the area must use an alternate route or travel will be delayed.

Carson said a hazmat unit was deployed to the area. A report from Cristina Flores of KUTV 2 News in Salt Lake City confirms the area of U.S. 189 near S.R. 113 is still closed at this hour. Traffic is at a standstill and will be tough to get through once the road reopens.

While U.S. Highway 189 was reopened, Carson confirmed it was shut down again as crews offload the tank from the rollover.

Janet Carson of Wasatch County Fire and Rescue confirmed on her Twitter account that the oil spill was a butane spill to be specific. Fire department personnel were on hand to clean up the mess.
Tuesday morning, per the official Twitter account of the Utah Highway Patrol, a semi hauling propane has rolled into Deer Creek Reservoir.
The incident occurred at 11:55 am MDT Tuesday and the driver is uninjured.
UHP calls this a “delicate clean-up situation.”
Motorists are advised to leave the area and U.S. Highway 189 is currently closed in the area.
