Saturday COVID-19 Stats Released For Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Saturday, updated statistics for COVID-19 in the Beehive State were released by the Utah Department of Health.

Since statistics began being kept, there have been 28,855 recorded cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State.

This represents an increase of 632 cases in the past 24 hours but a net decrease of 235 cases in the same span.

There have been 16,897 recoveries from COVID-19 in Utah. This set a state-record for recoveries for the second consecutive day as there are 636 new recoveries in the past 24 hours. This is a net increase of 36 recoveries in the same span.

This caused the recovery percentage to increase to 58.5 percent in the Beehive State. Friday, this total was at 57.6 percent.

There are presently 11,747 active cases from COVID-19 in Utah. This commemorated a first-time occurrence since statitics began being kept for the virus. This represents a decrease of 20 active cases in the daily totals as well as a -159 decrease of active cases in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 40.7 percent of COVID-19 cases in Utah are active.

There have been 405,352 tests administered for COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 9,378 tests in the past 24 hours.

This caused the overall positive test percentage to drop to 7.11 percent Saturday. Friday, this was at 7.12 percent.

The 24-hour positive test percentage dropped significantly from Friday. It checked in at 6.73 percent Saturday. Friday, this number was at 11.97 percent.

Since statistics have been kept, there have been 1,797 hospitalizations for COVID-19. This represents a +49 increase in the past 24 hours.

Current hospitalizations increased to 203, which is a net increase of 21 in the past 24 hours. This rose the current hospitalization percentage to 11.29 percent.

Presently 84 COVID-19 cases are in ICU. This is a net increase of 5 but the ICU COVID-19 current hospitalization percentage dropped to 41.37 percent. Friday, this number was at 43.4 percent.

There were five new deaths attributed to COVID-19 Saturday. This increased the death total to 212. The current death percentage in Utah, still the best in the nation, increased to 0.007347 percent. Friday, this was at 0.00733 percent.

Wasatch County experienced four new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This increased the net case total to 452 in Wasatch County. Saturday, the hospitalization (20) and death (4) statistics remained unchanged. The most recent death in Wasatch County attributed to COVID-19 occurred July 6.
