SALT LAKE CITY-Tuesday, the Salt Lake Chamber conducted a virtual press conference which shared a plan for Utah to thrive financially amid the adversity imposed upon the Beehive State because of COVID-19.
Presiding over the conference was Derek Miller the president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber.
Guests included Utah Governor Gary Herbert, speaker of the house Brad Wilson, Senator Stuart Adams, Steve Starks, CEO of the Larry H. Miller companies, Lavanya Mahate of Saffron Valley Indian restaurants and Natalie Gouchnor, an associate dean of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah.
After Miller introduced everyone, he turned the time over to Herbert.
Among Herbert’s focal points was the introduction of the Utah Leads Together plan.
This initiative puts public health at the forefront of anything done by the Beehive State.
This plan was devised with input from health officials, business leaders and state officials.
Gouchnor then spoke for several moments, featuring three key components. These included a rigorous effort through the urgent stage of getting the economy going again. She then admonished everyone to stay engaged and assist all those in need.
Wilson and Adams each echoed the sentiments shared by Herbert in the past, including honoring social distancing rules and not going out in public if anyone should feel sick. Wilson further emphasized the flattening of the curve.
Starks gave a rundown of how the Larry H. Miller companies plan to assist the community. Mahate spoke of the importance of keeping the economy viable by stressing how she has built her businesses to serve the community.
