RMP Explains Need For 30 Percent Rate Increase

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Rocky Mountain Power wants customers to know why it is proposing an electricity rate increase of 30 percent over the next two years. RMP says the cost of fuel for its power plants has increased and the rates to purchase wholesale power have also gone up. RMP says this proposal would see rates increase by about 15 percent in 2025 and by that same amount again in 2026. The average customer will see an increase in their monthly bill of about 24 dollars at the end of the two-year rollout. RMP last implemented a general rate increase in 2020.
