Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest fire personnel have initiated a prescribed burn as part of the Ponderosa Restoration Project. As forecasted weather conditions continue to improve, personnel will continue operations in other units as part of the project lasting through mid June if conditions allow. The Ponderosa Restoration Project is in Summit County, approximately ten miles East of Kamas. The project area is primarily on the North side of the Mirror Lake Highway between the Ponderosa Group Campground and the Soapstone Basin turn-off. According to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service, “smoke may temporarily impact visibility on the Mirror Lake Highway (SR 150) and may also drift towards populated areas.
