NWS Has Fire Weather Watches In Place For Utah

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The National Weather Service is warning people the danger of fires is real this summer in Utah. The NWS says multiple fire weather watches start today and will be in place throughout the holiday week. There is an extended watch period affecting the San Rafael Swell region through Independence Day. The Grand Staircase area remains under a separate watch, as well as the Eastern Uinta Basin and Book Cliffs regions. Low humidity and winds that may gust to 35 miles-per-hour account for much of the threat of fire breaking out in the state. Residents are reminded it is illegal to light fireworks inside Bureau of Land Management boundaries, and at state and national parks.
