People work to protect homes into the night along 1700 South in Salt Lake City from the rising flow of Emigration Creek through Wasatch Hollow Park on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. As rapid snowmelt and possible April showers stoke fears of heavy flooding in the Northern Plains, state officials are announcing flood response plans, and residents are assembling thousands — if not hundreds of thousands — of sandbags to combat floods themselves. NSW: Flood Season Is Over

(Salt Lake City, UT) — It looks like Utah’s flood season is over. The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City cancelled their last remaining flood warning earlier this week, marking the end of a 40-day stretch of flood watches, warnings, and advisories related to snowmelt flooding. The agency took to Twitter to celebrate the end of runoff season, writing “High-elevation snowmelt runoff will continue this month, but widespread flooding is not expected at this time.”
