Monviso Fire Report

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah-Per an official report from Summit County, the Monviso Fire, raging in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, continues to burn as Saturday afternoon approaches.

Saturday, a type 3 incident management team from northern Utah will be on hand to combat the blaze. Early Saturday morning, per Summit County’s official Twitter account, firefighters labored to secure the burn area in hopes of beating winds forecast for later in the afternoon.

As the threat of thunderstorms and winds diminishes late in the afternoon, authorities say, rapid progress should occur.

Presently, about eight cabins in the Monviso subdivision are still under evacuation orders, but all nearby campgrounds are open to the public.

Also, the Mirror Lake Highway remains open for the time being, but caution is advised for those traveling into the Uintas.
