The Gunnison Valley Police Department is investigating the death of a man whose body was found at the Gunnison Stake Center Tuesday morning. According to Chief Brett McCall, a call came in at 7:30 a.m. of a deceased body in the parking lot of the Stake Center. The man has been identified as 21-year old Ricardo Valencia of Gunnison. According to witnesses, Valencia attended a party on Monday night at a home in the area and was intoxicated. He was asked to leave and allegedly punched his fist through the window of door, severing an artery in his arm on the broken glass. Valencia walked about two blocks, leaving a trail of blood and ended up in the parking lot of the Stake Center. Officials believe he was headed to his brothers house when he collapsed. A combination of blood loss and cold temperatures likely led to his death. The Sanpete/Juab Major Crimes Task Force is working with police, and the investigation is ongoing. Officials are looking into whether there were drugs present at the party.
