(Washington, DC) — Utah’s Republican U.S. senators split in yesterday’s vote on the debt ceiling bill. Mike Lee was one of 36 senators who voted against the bill while the 63 senators who voted for it included Mitt Romney. The measure suspends the debt ceiling until January of 2025, erasing the fear that the federal government would not be able to its pay bills, including Social Security, Medicare, and salaries for service members and government workers as soon as next week. The House passed the bill on Wednesday and it now goes to President Biden for his signature.
