LDS Social Media Post Sparks Dialog About Women Empowerment In The Church

(Salt Lake City, UT) — An Instagram post by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is sparking a dialog online about women empowerment in the church. The post quoted a sermon by J. Anette Dennis of the Relief Society organization. The post caption quotes Dennis and begins with, “there is no other religious organization in the world, that I know of, that has so broadly given power and authority to women.” The comment section quickly turned into a collection of both critiques and support. The Church wrote an official response when the comment section reached around eight-thousand responses stating, “Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Your comments will be shared with church leaders who follow these issues.”
