Lawmaker Considers Bill to Split Salt Lake County

(Salt Lake County, UT) — A state representative from South Jordan is considering a bill allowing citizens to petition to split Salt Lake County into two smaller counties due to its large size and complex government. Republican Jordan Teuscher believes smaller counties could be more accountable as Utah’s population grows. While similar legislation has failed before, Teuscher stresses the proposal is not politically motivated. Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson has declined comment until the bill is introduced.
