AMES, Iowa-Per a report in the Iowa State Daily, the student newspaper at Iowa State University, Iowa State named University of Utah enterprise student systems director Mark Simpson has been named as the Ames, Iowa-based university’s new registrar.
Simpson will commence in his new duties May 21 and he has spent more than 20 years performing university registrar duties, working in enrollment and student affairs leadership.
He also has experience in modernizing degree, advising and class scheduling systems.
Simpson informed Inside Iowa State that he is “deeply honored” to have this responsibility at Iowa State.
Simpson’s core competencies consist of academic records and registration, enrollment management, recruitment and admissions.
Other strengths Simpson possesses include financial management, student success, retention and completion, student development and enterprise software solutions.
In his role as registrar, Simpson will “provide strategic planning, direction and supervision for the registrar’s office,” per inside Iowa State.
Additionally, Simpson will serve as an NCAA certifying officer, support the veteran’s center and oversee processes related to confidential student records.
Simpson received a bachelor’s degree in social psychology from Park University as well as his master’s in education leadership from Brigham Young University.
He previously served as the registrar at Weber State University, assistant registrar at BYU and admissions director at Snow College.
