SALT LAKE CITY-Two teams from Intermountain Healthcare are on the way to New York to assist with major surges in COVID-19 cases.
Jess Gomez of Intermountain Healthcare media relations confirmed, via a press release, that hundreds of clinicians confirmed a desire to assist states suffering from extreme staffing issues during the coronavirus pandemic.
IHC has responded to their requests by sending these two teams out.
Each team features 50 caregivers who will serve a maximum of 14 days. These voluntary teams are made up of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists and other caregivers.
IHC is working with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Northwell Health, each of which are located in the greater New York area.
These healthcare systems will seek to reciprocate these services by supporting IHC as much as they can if Utah faces its own surge.
The first team is scheduled to fly out of Salt Lake City April 14 to assist caregivers at Northwell Health.
