Icy roads cause dozens of crashes in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Icy roads caused multiple crashes and temporary highway closures in Utah on Monday, officials said.

There were at least 17 crashes in Utah County Monday morning on Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 6, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Both roadways experienced temporary closures early Monday, and traffic remained delayed after I-15 reopened along the Wasatch Front.

Utah transportation officials said another 14 crashes were reported in Salt Lake County before 8 a.m. Monday.

The Little Cottonwood Canyon road to two ski resorts also was closed for avalanche control on Monday morning, which is a holiday and traditionally a busy ski day.
