HEBER CITY, Utah-June 29, per a report in the Wasatch Wave, a deadly head-on collision occurred at milepost 16 on U.S. Highway 40, claiming the life of a Heber City teen.
This was just in front of the Commons Apartments at the northwest entrance into the Heber City around 2700 North at 3:30 pm MDT.
The Utah Highway Patrol reports a Toyota Highlander “crossed the center lane” for “unknown reasons,” hitting a Mazda 6 head-on.
The driver of the Mazda 6, a 16-year-old Heber City resident, Victor Benitez, was killed in the collision, per the UHP.
The SUV driver, 78-year-old Susan Burton, also of Heber City, was flown to the University of Utah Hospital of Salt Lake City with life-threatening injuries.
The westbound travel lanes en route to Park City and Interstate 80 on U.S. Highway 40 were closed for several hours during the crash’s investigation.
