Hearing Is Held To Consider Amendment D Placement On November Ballot

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The deadline is this week for the state to know if a proposed Amendment D will be on the ballot in November. The amendment, if passed, would change the state constitution by granting the legislature authority to repeal or amend any ballot initiative. A legal hearing in a case involving the ballot placement was held Monday. A judge’s ruling is expected as soon as today because absentee ballots need to start printing by tomorrow to be sent to overseas voters. An attorney for the plaintiffs that include the League of Women Voters of Utah and Mormon Women for Ethical Government says voters will be misled by the current wording of the proposed amendment.
