Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway is Open

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Guardsman Pass Scenic Backway that goes through the Wasatch Mountains is now open for the summer. Utah Department of Transportation officials say the seven-mile roadway connecting the Salt Lake Valley to the Heber Valley was opened to traffic yesterday at 8 a.m. Crews worked to clear the State Route 190 side of the pass on May 7th as snow was still piled high on the roadway. A week later, Wasatch County maintenance crews began to clear the other side of the pass. The Backway will remain open until this fall.
