Groundbreaking Date Announced For Salta Argentina Temple

SALTA, Argentina-Friday, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released information concerning the groundbreaking date for their temple at Salta, Argentina.

The groundbreaking ceremony is slated for August 15.

Presiding at this event will be the Church’s South America South Area president Elder Benjamin De Hoyos.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, this event will follow social distancing guidelines.

Attendance at this event will be by invitation only. The groundbreaking service will be broadcast to meetinghouses in the temple district.

This temple was announced in April 2018 by Church president Russell M. Nelson.

Upon its dedication, this will be the third temple in Argentina. The others are in Buenos Aires (1986) and Cordoba (2015).

There are 470,843 Latter-day Saints in Argentina in 78 stakes and 734 congregations (484 wards, 250 branches).
