(Pine Valley, UT) — Governor Cox is urging Utahns to be extra vigilant to help prevent wildfires during the summer months. The governor was in Pine Valley with other state and local officials yesterday to give an update on the Forsyth Fire. The fire had burned over 56-hundred acres as of yesterday afternoon, destroying at least 13 homes. The governor said the fire was likely caused by lightning that ignited the inside of a tree, then burned for days before spreading to other trees. Cox called Washington County residents “hardy people” and praised them for coming together to support those affected by the fire.
