The unified Utah System of Higher Education will be comprised of 16 public institutions. These include eight technical colleges, two community colleges, four regional universities and two research universities.

The new Utah Board of Higher Education will focus on setting top priorities in the areas of workforce, affordability, access, completion, transfer, rural development, educational strategies and more.

Furthermore, the board will set a statewide vision and develop a strategic plan including goals and performance metrics, establishing the institutions’ missions and roles and delegating appropriate responsibilities and authorities to each institution’s respective board of trustees and presidents.

This is to ensure the system is efficient, effective and sufficiently able to deliver world-class instruction and research.
