Friday COVID-19 Statistics For Utah

SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, the COVID-19 statistics were updated for Utah by the Utah Department of Health.

Since statistics have been recorded, there have been 23,866 cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 596 (at this same time last week there were nearly 700 new cases in the past 24 hours) and a net increase of 42 cases in the past 24 hours.

There have now been 13,408 recoveries from COVID-19 in Utah. This is an increase of 332 recoveries in the past 24 hours and a net decrease of 37 recoveries in the same span. Presently, 56.18 percent of all cases of COVID-19 in Utah are recovered.

There are presently 10,277 active cases of COVID-19 in the Beehive State. This is an increase of 259 active cases in the past 24 hours and a net increase of 77 in the same span. This brings the overall active case percentage to 43.06 percent.

There have been 356,636 total tests for COVID-19 conducted in Utah. This sets a new state record for the most tests conducted in a day, at 10,250 total tests.

This, for the first time in many days, resulted in the overall positive test percentage dropping. Currently, the overall positive test percentage in Utah is 6.69 percent. Thursday, this was at 6.71 percent.

This also caused the 24-hour positive test percentage to significantly drop as it fell to 5.81 percent Friday. Thursday, this was at 18.29 percent.

Since statistics have been kept for COVID-19 in Utah, there have been 1,529 hospitalizations from COVID-19. This represents a +24 increase in the past 24 hours. However, current hospitalizations only rose by two in the past 24 hours, to 186 current hospitalizations. This kept the current hospitalization percentage constant at 12.16 percent.

COVID-19 current hospitalizations increased by four in the past 24 hours, bringing the net total to 45.7 percent. This is virtually where it was last week.

For the first time in many days, Utah’s death rate slightly increased. With five new deaths, bringing the state total to 181 fatalities attributed to COVID-19, the death rate rose to 0.00758 from Thursday’s 0.00756 percent.

In Wasatch County, there are four new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. This brings the net total to 418 cases since statistics began being kept. Again, the hospitalizations (20) and deaths (3) in Wasatch County remained unchanged. The most recent death in Wasatch County from COVID-19 occurred June 19.
