(Salt Lake City, UT) — A former Chief Justice of the Utah Supreme Court has passed away. Gordon R. Hall served as Chief Justice from 1981 to 1993 and was appointed to the court in 1977. He was known for strengthening judicial independence and held leadership roles including president of the Conference of Chief Justices. He received the Distinguished Jurist Award in 1988 for his service. Hall passed away on June 1st.
