An improperly installed chimney is being blamed for a fire in a home in Redmond on Tuesday.
According to officials, the residents had started a fire earlier in the day. They started to smell burning plastic and found flames in the ceiling near the fireplace.
The Salina and Aurora Fire Departments responded and were able to keep the fire from spreading to the rest of the house, but the roof was damaged.
There were no injuries.
