WASHINGTON-Tuesday, United States president Donald Trump and his daughter, Ivanka Trump, addressed small business owners in the east room of the White House.
Donald Trump said “Americans are looking forward to the safe and rapid reopening of our country.”
He said that in 14 days, the Small Business Administration “did more and more work loans than they did in 14 years.”
Donald Trump applauded their efforts, saying “the swift action saved 30 million jobs at least.”
This program has begun accepting applications for its second round of funding, he said.
Ivanka Trump then spoke to these small business owners, saying “It’s about your businesses thriving and growing in your communities.”
Amy Wright, the owner of a coffee shop employing people with intellectual disabilities, “Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop,” which has shops in Wilmington, N.C., Charleston, S.C., Savannah, Ga. and Annapolis, Md., spoke of how she could rehire 120 workers she was forced to lay off.
Wright said this is because of the Paycheck Protection Program.
