Dollar Ridge Fire Strikes Sunday

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah-Per the official Twitter of Utah Wildfire, a new wildfire has commenced in fire-ravaged Utah 4.5 miles southeast of Strawberry Reservoir. This is known as the Dollar Ridge Fire and was close to 200 acres as of 4:00 pm MDT Sunday afternoon.

Additionally, Utah Wildfire reports that evacuations have been called for in the area, although it’s uncertain just how many are required.

As of the last report, around 4:15 pm MDT Sunday, the blaze was also approaching Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest land.

This blaze can bee seen from as far away as Manti and appears to be going southeastward toward Emery and Grand counties, in the San Rafael Swell area. Utah Wildfire also reports that as of 6:55 pm MDT, 10 structures were being threatened by the fire, including seven cabins.

As of 7:11 pm MDT Sunday, the fire was 0 percent contained and had scorched 1,500 acres, while Utah Wildfire also reports homes and cabins along the Strawberry River and Camelot Resort are on a pre-evacuation notice as it makes a push toward Duchesne County.

Per information from KUTV News reporter Lisa Nico, as of 7:35 pm MDT Sunday, the fire had burned up to 2,500 acres and there are several hot shots on site in hopes of combating the blaze. Nico also confirmed that all seven of the cabins have been evacuated during this report.

As of 8:58 pm MDT, Utah Wildfire reports, via a helicopter GPS that the fire has burned 6,600 acres. Per a report from Duchesne County Sheriff David Boren, Reservation Ridge Road has been closed as is Timber Canyon Road starting at the Camelot Resort.

Preliminary reports state the blaze was human-caused.
