Cox Warns Utah Facing Severe Wildfire Danger

(Provo, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox is warning that Utah’s weather for much of this month will bring a severe risk of wildfires. In an interview at Provo’s Freedom Festival on Tuesday, Cox said the next three weeks the state will face above-average temperatures and below-average precipitation. Cox noted a red flag warning is out for Southern Utah right now and he said that’s going to be likely in many areas of the state toward the middle and end of July. A red flag warning means high temperatures, very low humidity, and strong winds. Cox said Utah has a lot of fuel because of the wet spring. He said “We need people to be careful.”
