Cox, Lawmakers Prepping Plan To Keep National Parks Open During Shutdown

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox says he and state legislative leaders are preparing a plan to keep Zion National Park and Utah’s other national parks open in case a federal government shutdown comes to pass this weekend. Cox said the plan is similar to what’s been done in the past. Cox said national parks are the “lifeblood” for nearby communities like those in Washington County. Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Mike Lee on Wednesday introduced a bill that would keep parks open and require the Secretary of the Interior to repay states for money they spend keeping parks open.
